Creative technology in service of the human artistic experience.

Ruunda is a creative-technology studio in the Finnish archipelago. We build the software, hardware and electronics that carry visual, musical and digital art to the people who experience it — a small, senior team with more than thirty years of making things that work and matter.

What we do

We think of technology as a substrate — the quiet layer everything else rests on. On top of it sits the work itself: sound recording and music, writing and composition, visual art and graphic design, and the live performances and cultural events where all of it meets an audience.

The engineering underneath is real — software design and development, systems and infrastructure, data and hosting, electronics when the work calls for it. But it is never the point. The point is what reaches a person: something to see, hear or read that was worth the making.

Approach

Ruunda is small on purpose. The people who take on the work are the people who do it, drawing on more than thirty years across software, sound and stage. We favour proven, unglamorous technology below the waterline and keep the ambition for what shows above it.

Fewer things, made carefully, kept working.

Where

We are based in Pargas, in the Åboland archipelago on Finland's southwest coast, and work with people nearby and far away.
